here's the video referenced. it's in the bottom right corner

about 36 seconds in
here's one that I would love to know the technique because it does appear to
be edited
http://c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000AY3SBnQmMMk/s/885/680/The-Desert<http://jeffreymurray.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/DESERT/G00000Ux4t6FXbBA/I0000AY3SBnQmMMk>
as an aside for web developer reference, firefox gave me the url of that
image under tools - page info - media tab. the blank gif overlay technique
is worthless even with javascript enabled. you just have to arrow between
items to find the one you want. allowing distribution but having watermarks
is far and away the best option. get your work out with your name on it
it appears to be taken with a a reversed ND filter where the center is
darker. that looks to be legit. less light in the center would make a
darker sky and lighter sand at the same time and more pronounced clouds. it
feels backwards but that part is right. which is easily done in computer
but doesn't have to be
but go look at photos of death valley sand. you'll notice that the yellow
sand fades to brown yellow shades. that's fundamental color math from your
elementary art school class. when you make a color darker you're adding
black to make it a shade
so how is it changing to a red sand in this photo?
we know the edges are more realistic with a ND filter with a dark center.
the clear section is supposed to return what was really there and there
isn't any death valley sand that's a deep red.
and since the sky didn't change color the change only made the yellow into
red.
there's nothing wrong with editing if it's honest editing.
