of note, the app has to work within Apple's software exposure rules. so the image it's working with has been modified by the phone for optimum average exposure. if you watched the keynote they mentioned ios 5 has exposure lock and it's fully program mode exposure, not manual.
sure, it can work sometimes, but it's not a light meter because the phone doesn't give the right
what it is is telling you what the scene would look something like and what exposure settings to use to get this general look
sure, it can be useful but for real spot metering an actual light meter is far more accurate
