this is really not an olympus camera type question so it probably doesn't belong here but I'll offer you this before you check in with a "pc maintenance" type forum:
I've been doing pc building & service for a very, very long time ..
the problem is most likely NOT Win 7.. but would very possibly be one of the following..
1. outdated vga / video driver software - (download & install latest version).
2. bad system ram / dram
3. failing cooling fan for case or cpu
4. failing media / hard drive
5. failing or overheated power supply
6. if separate video card (not integrated), then overheat there / failing ram
7. motherboard with failing capacitors.
if it's a dell then read this:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/30/documents-show-that-dell-knowingly-sold-defective-computers-mis/
you've provided very little info about your particular machine.. age, or otherwise so you'll have to narrow it down on your own.
good luck.

This seems to work OK on the whole, but restarts randomly after displaying a
message that it has encountered a problem. This is especially annoying when I
am in the middle of photo-editing, but really there is no convenient time for
this to happen. Does anyone else experience this problem, and does anyone know
of a fix?
All the best,
David
