Subject: Re: [photography_beginners] iphone ? again.. sorry
I just got an iPhone 4 this past Friday evening and LOVE it. The improvements are worth every penny, and I haven't had a single issue with the antenna. I keep a case on mine, though, and that is said to resolve any antenna issues. Apple is offering a free case (at least here in the US) to all iPhone 4 buyers, though the shipping times range from two to six weeks depending on which one you pick. I've ordered my free case because it's free but I bought a case the night I bought the phone... I don't like my phones to be naked. ;)
The benefits of the iPhone 4 over the 3G or 3Gs are numerous. The whole thing runs much quicker. Multitasking is a plus if you're like me and want to stream music from Pandora while reading on the Kindle app. Or perhaps a more sensible example would be the ability to keep playing Pandora while checking the email or text message that just came in. LOL. The resolution on the screen is simply amazing when compared to the older ones! The image quality with the camera is such an improvement I almost can't believe it - and it even has the ability to touch where you want it to focus!! I haven't played much with the HD video yet, but the nephews really got a kick out of the forward-facing video camera and they could see themselves while it was recording. There are apps that will actually let you edit the video and export it from the phone, so I'm anxious to try those. I also haven't used face time yet.
Another issue with the 3G is that it can't really run ios4 yet (the newest operating system update from Apple). I made the mistake of upgrading mine to ios4 last Thursday evening because I wanted to try the Netflix app and immediately regretted it. (Yes, I was warned this would happen but I was also told that disabling certain features would solve this problem... and they didn't.) So if you are considering getting one of the older phones instead of the newer one just be aware that the software is outpacing it and that it won't be able to keep up over the long term. If your delimma is just whether to buy an iPhone 4 now or wait for something better... go ahead and get the phone. :) You'll love it.
