> Do you pay a monthly fee for using JAlbum?
If you install JAlbum on your server and upload your galleries to your
own hosting service, there is no monthly fee. JAlbum also has an
online subscription component that hosts the galleries for you, and
there is a monthly fee for that, ranging from free to $10/month,
depending on storage capacity and features.

Since they moved to the online subscription model, using the software
on your own server has become more obscure. The company looks to be
competing with Picasa, SmugMug and other photo-sharing sites.
SmugMug might be a good alternative if you are looking for a way to
fulfill orders without having to make prints yourself. The Pro version
is $149 yearly, and allows you to set your own pricing for just those
sizes and styles you wish to include, as well as building password
protected client galleries. This model is probably better for event
photography.
PhotoShelter and ZenFolio are two other subscription models that are
well-spoken of by photogs. PhotoShelter in particular can help you set
up an ecommerce section, with a related blog. Neither are cheap,
however. About $350 /year.
