[artshow_photo] Recent open letter to Camera Manufacturers

 

Hi Van:

It's not a question of where you put the images. It's more of an issue for those who use a Digital Asset Management program, where the folders essentially go away when browsing collections of images, or for those who just put all their photos in one folder. It's just better not having file names that repeat. The main purpose of my suggestion is to help the average user who won't rename files, but I think it can help anyone, without a whole lot of work on the part of digital camera manufacturers (especially if they use the 8 character system or something similar to what I propose in this article):
