This has been an interesting thread and like several others I have mixed feelings about IR - the fact that it can look unnatural doesn't necessarily make it unpleasant, but nor does being 'different' mean that it is automatically better.
Here is one of the very first photos I took with a standard E510 and IR filter - the tulips were red and the wall was cream and I had no idea what to expect. Indeed that unpredictability is one of the fascinations of IR - I still find it hard to judge whether a shot will work in IR.

This second shot was taken on a riverside walk through Norwich. It is not that different from an ordinary black and white, but I think there is something quite appealing about the IR effect. http://www.flickr.com/photos/countrycasita/4460835576/in/photostream/
