I'm not a photographer but an undercover woodcut agent-er, woodcut
printmaker. When I first started on the circuit, I almost exclusively looked
to photogs for guidance in display, pricing, etc., since they (y'all) were
the closest I could find to my medium. Both works on paper, multiple
originals, framed, matted, "wall art", and so on.
Anyhow, that's why I'm "here" in the forum but more to the point of your
question, "block" refers to the type of wood block I use to carve and
produce a certain woodcut print. I use primarily cherry or maple but, as I
like to say, no wood is really safe around me.
The important thing is that my tags have tidbits of info that might peek a
potential customer's interest; in my case the type of woodblock and type of
paper as well as the edition number. After looking at the tag, the potential
innocent victim asks a question like you just did; I answer, reel, reel,
reel, BITE!
Maybe a photog's tag could include "location", since I know that is a
question you often get asked? Or whatever, mine is just a sample that suits
my stuff and gets people interested.
Now you know more than you ever wanted to know about that "block"!

Hi Maria!
On your label, what is meant by "block"?
Thanks,
Kim
