I too sign my images on the white border of the print, lower right corner in
pencil, unless the print is on glossy paper, in which case I use a very fine
tip black marker. I've tried the silver and it hasn't shown up at well. I
may however, try some other silver pens. Other info about the print, i.e.
the title, location, number (if numbered), run along the bottom of the
image, also in pencil or pen. Then I mat leaving a 1/4 inch white border
all around the print and thus exposing the signature, etc. The narrowness
of the border forces me to write small and neat and I don't think it looks
obtrusive.
For canvas images, I sign my name in silver or gold (depending upon the
color of the image) in the lower right hand corner. So far I'm putting the
name of the image and other info on the back of the canvas, or the back
facing edge of the frame, but that is something I'm still experimenting
with.
