As a consumer, I have bought a few things from other artists on Etsy, but
only after being directed to the Etsy site from another source, like a blog
or a business card I picked up at an art fair. I don't go to the Etsy site
to "shop." If you had other marketing strategies to point buyers to where
they can purchase your merchandise, it might have some success.
Here is an artist (my booth neighbor at Cherry Creek) who, with his
wife/partner who promotes his art full time, does an excellent job of
marketing his work. He sells his work on Etsy but also in many other
venues, art shows, wholesale, etc. http://dolangeiman.blogspot.com/
