Lori, I have done a lot of research on P & S cameras in the hopes of getting one as a back up to my Nikon d300. The research I have done pretty much supports the Canon Powershot SX20 IIS as the best of the breed. Do your research and compare the features you have to have, such as noise at higher ISOs. What ISOs are possible. What zoom range? The SX20 has a 20 power OPTICAL zoom. High power zoom would be important to me because I wanted to shoot pro baseball games.

Am kindly requesting opinions for a good point and shoot camera, not to replace the SLR.
I have done hours of research and looked at hundreds of photos yet am interested in

individual experiences and am still undecided.
Would be using the point and shoot for low lighting, such as restaurants, personal events, friends and family images.
Although the SLR's are ideal, they are bulky and heavy to carry and to use for non formal events.

All opinions / ideas are welcomed.
Some suggestions include Olympus,Panasonic DMC-XL5 Lumix, or the Lumix DMC FZ 100 super zoom which I like the idea of, and the Fujifilm FinePix HS10 .

Video would also be nice to have.
