RE: [artshow_photo] Re: Is Anyone Using a Mini Van

If these art shows really start making money for us, one thing I definately want to do is by a seperate cargo or conversion van. Granted we bought my new car with the shows in mind, but I really like it and dont want to be putting loads of miles on it.

Not what Larry is looking for but if i may chime in .. I started out
with a SUV pulling a 10' trailer, but soon figured out that I was
going to burn up the Lexus RX300 and bought a 95 GMC Van conversion on
Ebay. It's a one ton, 3500 model with a class C conversion.. has
everything from a TV, microwave, stove, roof mounted AC to a toilet
and shower, the later being very important. I still pull the trailer
which is a bit too small but I have it well organized top to bottom to
fit a double booth, 12 cases of art, and propanels. I cant imagine
doing a show with an ezup since it only takes one show with weather to
destroy your both and all that's in it. But it sure would make things
easier in set up.

What has worked the best in traveling around the county is being able
to comfortably stay in the van. It has a couch that folds down into a
bed and a loft bed, which acts as more storage. I save on hotel bills
at the shows, and it makes it a lot easier than checking into and out
of hotel rooms that hardly get used. On the road; and the last couple
trips were extensive, 2 -3 week jaunts, I can drive from sunup to
sundown and not worry about where Im spending the night. You can
almost always find a Walmart, and they allow RV's to park overnight
with security. Worse case you stop at a truck stop travel park (gas
station). Fast, convenient and cheap, pick all three! (Granted you can
find cheap motels along the highways, but it adds up). I save my $ for
a nice meal... : -)
