Well I missed the deadline. Couldn't make up my mind.
If it is like last year they will be still be extending invites
to fill up the spaces. Several artists I spoke to last year
said they wouldn't be back.
That is the curse of a new show. The crowd is thin, so sales
are down. Then artists abandon the show, and the crowds
are disappointed and fewer come. It's a chicken and egg
problem. A declining spiral. The promoters have to
overcome this and the only way they can is to increase
advertising. But then they have to raise booth fees and
that discourages more artists from entering. I suspect
that the only way to really get a new show going is to
have some kind of outside support - corporate/municipal
sponsorship to help break the spiral.
I wish the date for this show was a little later.
