If you don't want to wait/pay for a new ipad one thing you can do is talk to your cell phone company and ask about a mobile hot spot. I think Verizon's is $30 a month.

I used my square reader for the first time this weekend. I did the Winter
Arts Festival here in Madison, and the convention center has free wifi (but
slow), so i was able to process everything with my iPod Touch. My only
problem was that some people had trouble signing the touch screen - they
wanted to use their fingernail, rather than the pad of their finger. They
have already sent all but the last transaction to my bank account. A much
better way than using my Propay account. Sometime next year I will get a 3g
ipad and use that for transactions.
