Bryan,
The Leica S2 is an absolutely beautiful medium format autofocus camera with
a battery of new and expensive autofocus Leica lenses. I have had a chance
to handle the Prototypes and the working production cameras over the last
several years at Photo Plus. The Leica R lenses do not fit this camera. We
are hopeful that a Leica autofocus body will come in the future for the
Leica R lenses.
The Leica S2 is competitive with the Hasselblad autofocus cameras. The S2
handles like a large and rather heavy Leica R8 or R9 camera; ergonomically
it handles much like the R8 and R9. Leica has been unable to keep up with
the orders for the cameras and I believe they are back ordered. But these
are relatively low production cameras and are really more intended for usage
to replace medium format or even large format cameras.
