Jerry,
I gave up on off the shelf boxes years ago. You can get a $200. box that's
useless but to really get a workable tool for high end work the you will
have to pay a premium. My solution is to build your own. Either do it
yourself or find someone locally that will do it for you. The task is
fairly easy even for a non tech. The computer I am using now was put
together in early 2008, however I've done several upgrades since. The goal
was to have a silent fast cool computer. I used an Antec box that has
sound insulating material inside, an Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard and a cooling
tower without fan on the CPU. The graphics card is a EVGA 8600GTS and is a
little slow but was reasonably priced. When I upgraded to Win 7 I replaced
the C drive with a 128gm SSD from Kingston.
The initial investment was about $1500. but upgrades are simple changout.
