Interesting idea. I went to your website and was intrigued. I particularly liked the reason why you and your friends are developing this site. I realize the website is still under development. So the comments below are in relation to that.

I did want to see what kind of pictures you were considering but the links didn't produce the archives just the blog. Are you going to have guidelines for what kinds of images you are considering? Are you going to curate your site?
I like your test room for displaying pictures so people can get an idea of how it will look on the wall. I would suggest something other than black for the default background because I did not realize there were people in the room until I started playing around.
I assume the room will also adjust the size of the picture based on the size someone wants to select so they can have some idea of how it will look on their wall. Are you going to allow multiple images on a wall? That would be so cool. Like a virtual gallery.
I trust that it is within this group's guidelines and your intention to keep us posted as you continue to develop your site.
FYI - I am with SmugMug and they have it so when you right click an image, you don't see anything. Also if you select to print out a gallery all you get is blank frames. You might want to have your web development team check that out. I was able to right click your cute frog and see it as a web page on it's own--too small for anything but a website--but still.... You can see that feature on my currently under development website.
