A quick way to do this is to use the crop tool in Photoshop, set the size in
pixels (px) for the height or width (make sure that the longest side is 1200
px as that is what they are asking for. Set the resolution to 300 dpi and
drag the crop tool across the image and viola - you have it - no math, no
headache.

By the way, 300 dpi seems rather large for a web based image, but maybe it
will be used on a flyer or brochure, if that is the case then 300 dpi is the
right resolution.

I was submitting an image and they said it had to be 300 dpi inside
1200-1200 --- thus my Q = I wasn't making a print, I was creating a
digital file to send.
