"Global ad spending in 2011 is expected to be up 5.4% to $411.7 billion according to MagnaGlobal"
They went on to break-down where that money will be spent and how that relates to stock photography, but let me point out that the entire stock photography industry is a few billion, at best and it makes more sense to me that photographers consider going for the advertising revenue as bloggers and website publishers. This not only will directly generate revenue but will also put your work in front of many more sets of eyeballs, which should result in increased sales of image licenses and prints and whatever else you may be selling.
Yes, I know that established professionals will reject this idea and that the vast majority of those who are not yet established will simply ignore my advice but that will not stop me from making the point again and again and again because that is why I started this group; to share ideas for generating money with our photography.
It is a formula I use and I find that I am rowing a boat in a rising tide. That means that even if I don't do much to improve I find that those around me (Google, as an example) are continually improving and generating more income for me without any, or very little effort on my part.
What are you doing to grow your business? I'd like to hear your ideas.
