Oscar - You can't argue with success, and I have always admired Josh's setup (double booths especially), plus the financial success he has experienced over the past few years. However, his reasoning for seting his bins "behind" his pro panels may be more logistic dealing with his setup. Reading between your lines, it sounds like you might be comparing his bin placement to the overall success of his business.
Ask yourself this - if all the bins were facing frontward, compared to all the bins facing rearward, which would draw the most traffic?
In my experience at shows where I've had one bin facing frontwards and one bin facing rearwards, the front bin ALWAYS receives the most traffic.
Your booth should be designed to "draw in" prospective customers. If you are lucky enough to have large, beautifully printed images with lots of impact, as Josh does, perhaps that's all he needs to draw the crowd to his booth. On the other hand, being able to "see" browsing bins from the street might encourage some patrons to enter, where they would not if it weren't for the visible bins.
I'm sure there are lots of opinions on bin placement - sometimes you have the luxury of placing bins where you want, and other times you have to place them where you can.
