I don't go to better restaurants much these days, so I hadn't realized that there were long waits. I haven't had to wait long to get coffee at McDonalds ...
The "bubble" in the art shows came because of the Clinton economy, when America was booming overall and our leaders actually acted responsibly and balanced the budget. Then a small recession hit, followed by 9/11, plus two unnecessary wars, then immense tax cuts that devastated the budget, and so on. There was a minor uptick in art shows around 2005, but nothing like the two great booms of the 1980s and 1990s. With changes in demographics, a passionate interest in the young about all things electronic, and easier photography, I think that we will never again see a comparable boom in art shows.
I have been selling my work at art shows since 1979, so I've seen a lot of ups and downs based largely on the economy. This is by far the worst.
