Re: [artshow_photo] Re: Director's Chair

We have used two Hollywood directors chairs from
www.Jerrysartarama.com for the past several years.
They are tall types made from aluminum tubing and
fold flat for compact storage in the trailer.
Here's a link. Hope it doesn't get mangled.

The only problem with these chairs is the material
the seat is made from is crap. Both our chairs tore
thru the seats in only 3 shows. The chairs are riveted
so that they aren't designed to replace the seat.
I simply drilled out the rivets and replaced then with
bolts with self jamming nuts. The problem was in
getting a new seat. I paid for a couple commercial
outdoor furniture refinishing places to make new
ones that didn't last any longer. Finally I bought the
heaviest Duck canvas (100% cotton) I could find at
local fabric stores and had a friend sew them up to
fit the frames. That was three years ago and they
are still working just fine. The frames for these chairs
are very nice. They fold quite flat and are light weight.
They are as comfortable as any standard commercial
wood directors chair you will find for under $250.00

There are some custom made wood chairs that are expensive $$$,
heavy and don't fold up as compactly that have the reputation
of being more comfortable - but ....
