Adobe upgrades are generally on an 18 month schedule. I don't remember exactly when CS5 came out, but I'd be surprised if there is a major upgrade this year. We have a contract, paid annually, and receive the updates as soon as they're available. I'm not sure just how many copies we get, but it should be somewhere around 55 copies of Photoshop.

I believe the PS upgrades for mortal men are about $200 each.
My concern is that I also have CS3, but would prefer waiting for CS6 to upgrade. It should be out later this year.
I would not be a happy camper to find out too late that PS DOES have a generation limit, which would force me to have to pay full price ($600+) for CS6. Financially speaking, I would be better off upgrading to CS5 for $200 now, then upgrading to CS6 for another $200 later this year. I would still be $200 to the better compared to paying $600+.
In fact, if I had to upgrade to CS5 now, I'd consider waiting for CS7 to upgrade again.
