Hi Peter,
I think you're wrong about Photographer's Direct being failed. I say this simply because they are still around and I assume, profitable. I would never do some of the things they do there but I am glad they have prospered on their own terms rather than failing on someone elses.
As for your comment:

This forum exists as a marketplace of ideas and the one thing I won't allow here is anyone who tries to limit the discussion based on ideology. I often suggest RM as an option but I do not recommend it for most because it is a limited and shrinking market.
Most of my income is derived from marketing low-cost images using long established (I have been doing web marketing since 1995) techniques that could also be applied to any type of licensing model. Acclaim Images is a small part of my network but Acclaim Images and its high prices would no longer exist if I didn't have a whole lot of other websites that support it. Those sites use web marketing and market low cost images and are generally much more profitable than AcclaimImages.com. Web marketing works and is a tremendous opportunity for the small business person because you can succeed with almost no investment except hard work.
BTW, the title of this forum is "Selling Stock Photography" not "Selling RM Stock Photography" and this forum was started and built to this point by me in direct response to the limited views allowed on the "STOCK PHOTO" forum. When YOU build a network of sites that deliver 400,000 page views per day, which allows you to easily deliver new members to such a forum, then YOU can make the rules, and people can decide whether or not to join YOUR forum on your terms.
I have put up with way too many small minds over the years and seen the destruction they cause to allow thinking like this to even get a toehold in this forum. You are welcome here, as long as you respect the points of view of other people who differ from you. Feel free to push the merits of RM; there are many, but do not think you can get away with limiting the discussion by bullying people.
