Just a note that Bridge from CS4 onward also has a database underneath it, supporting the "Collections" feature introduced in that release. I don't know if that feature is similar to LR's database features or not ...
To muddy the waters a bit further: Photoshop Elements 8.0 comes with an "Organizer" application which is quite unlike Bridge (but perhaps more like LR), having its own concepts about how to catalog images.
So many options to choose from, and constantly changing ones to boot ...
