I lived in Wisconsin for quite a while when I was younger. My dad
taught history at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh and I went to
college in Madison and Milwaukee before moving to Chicago to pursue a
career in advertising. Wisconsin is a beautiful, bucolic state, with a
lot to offer. Oshkosh got damn cold in the winter though. Seems to me
in retrospect that either my winter coat was too thin, or the
temperatures were too low.
The area between Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago has a lot of
possibilities. The people are super nice, the tractors are very
photogenic, and the land is beautiful. As far as shows go, it may be
more centrally located to the top 20 shows than is Michigan. Close to
Minneapolis, Chicago, Des Moines, Kansas City, St. Louis, Ann Arbor...
Seems to me to get to the best shows, you have to do a bit of driving
no matter where you live. And the midwest has lots of good shows in
the summer, as well as a few stinkers.
