[artshow_photo] Unions & WI - last word - honest

Special note to Mark - no worries my friend! This one hits home for me and my
family so I 'm a little energized!

-----------------------
Many people are being misinformed either on purpose or by poor news media. It's
hard to get across the real issues of what is happening in a 2 minute news spot.

So before anybody (including myself) go further ballistic I urge you to read the
following link which explains things with actual words.

On a side note - Indiana and Ohio and 13 other States with brand new Republican
Governors are also having protests! Wisconsin is the biggest so gets the press!

I will not speak of this further as this is an Art Fair and not Political emaily
thingy!

Last I heard, the people of Wisconsin elected an official who ran on this
platform, so there should be no surprises (other than the Democrats actually
running and hiding). Mr Obama was elected on the promise of hope and change and
those that elected him have to be wondering where that guy is.
I have a union background from the time when unions did participate in the
process of bettering the lives of the workers, protecting and educating them in
their chosen field (and some still do). Every worker (union or not) did benefit,
but like politics the process has degenerated into special interests and had
become a bloated behemoth more interested in it's own survival. The process in
Wisconsin is fascinating but (some) elected officials seem to get it. We can no
longer support an antiquated pension system that places the burden on the
taxpayers and their children. It must evolve, but the ultimate winners will of
course be the lawyers.
The initial thread was whether the situation in the state would affect art show
sales. I made a sarcastic comment about Wisconnie folks and (sorta) apologize
for any who didn't get it. But, to answer the question I think you need to be
specific to which type of show may be affected. Madison on the Square? No
way. This is a destination event, and it becomes marked on the calender each
year. The Lakefront in Milwaukee? Nope. Same deal.
The annual Chicken Plucking and Hog Calling/Fine Art show in Woolworth County?
Yep. There it might make a difference.(Warning, for those liberals born without
a sense of humor and who take everything as a personal attack, there is no such
show or county for that matter). I will now go back into Lurkerland..

To be honest it has nothing to do with Health Care or even Collective
Bargaining. The big picture is the two party system.

Without Unions the Democratic Party is basically belly up (which sounds like
some of you think would be a good thing LOL) . Unions fund the Party, no unions,

no funds and the U.S. is now a one party System run by the rich who really could

care less about worker rights!

That is why Unions across the country are gearing up for a planning a general
strike!

BTW - sorry - Larry - up your name on the wrong post! my bad!

Hi

I am in middle of this debate both sides have good points. I am watching to see
what happens because it will affect each state.

High income class and lower income class do not come to the shows to buy art. We

all now who is buy our art.

With everything going on this is another blow to our clients. The art show
market is getting smaller and we have one show each weekend.

If you want you can actually do one show each weekend. The internet is affecting

what people are buying and living places are getting smaller.
We pass the blame to each other starting with the president, both parties, etc.

Why we should look in the mirror and see what you can do to improve your status.

What you do help yourself. What you can do educate yourself.
We forgot everything start and end with you at home not someplace else. Yes you
need to protect what you are earn and have the right to have.

But don't be the least surprised. The general public sees that pre-union
schools did a heck of a lot better job of educating kids. Now we have unions
and a 35% graduation rate and kids with diplomas that can't read. Parents
see teachers that can't be bothered to work with the parents, can't be found
at 1 minute past the time kids are released, and never return calls.

Teachers are more concerned with accruing rights and benefits than they are
in teaching. They are more worried with teaching politically correct social
issues than they are in teaching math, science and reading. And I can point
out that the department of eduction is the only university department whose
student SAT scores decreased after 3 years of college.

That's why the public is quite angry with you.
