Re: [artshow_photo] How original do your photos have to be accepted into a top fine art show?

Lovely photos, Nick.

However, I juried an art fair yesterday and there were 100 photographers vying for under 20 spaces. Many of the submissions, although technically excellent, could have been interchanged with one another -- you need to not only have fine imagery you have to have something that will not get you lumped in with everyone else who is looking at that subject matter and taking its photo. Show who you are and what you do well that no one else is doing. This is the real challenge.

From my one year in Art Fairs you have no problems but what are you calling
"decent". The $600 2 day shows? - it's more work then you think but once you
get the logistics and art work and so forth it's much easier. That start-up can
be stressful and VERY expensive!

Go for it.

Subject: [artshow_photo] How original do your photos have to be accepted into a
top fine art show?

To all:

I was seriously thinking about getting into the art show photo business, but I
heard the jurors want original images or something they haven't seen before to
get accepted into a high end art show. I would certainly appreciate it if
someone who's done art shows before could tell me if my photographs are
different enough to get accepted into a decent fine art show?

Thanks,
