Hi, folks,
I have to admit that I'm with Gary on this one -- just try reading this in
digest form once or twice, Van, and you will quickly see why Bernie is
insistent upon the rule and why digest using folks like Gary and I find it
so tedious to have to read through mile after mile of the same stuff
repeated ad infinitum ad nauseum. Not only is that tedious in full screen
mode on a computer, but it is nearly impossible on a blackberry or other
handheld, which many of us are using a lot these days to keep up with what
is otherwise an extremely valuable forum while we are away (FREQUENTLY) from
our offices.
In the interest of gathering democratic information, maybe we could set up a
forum poll to see how many want severe trimming -- ie no thread at all --
and how many want medium trimming so that only the last item in the thread
is shown, and how many want little or no trimming.
Most of us here are pretty adult about the posting and don't go flying off
the handle when in doubt -- as long as we mainly keep to that mode of
behaviour as the standard within the forum and continue to make a serious
effort to avoid off-topic politics, I think the trimming of posts needs a
bit more respect than it gets.
