RE: Selling Stock Photography Re: Google landing page using stock images for click-throughs

I've been thinking of doing this for a few reasons, one of which to promote more sales of my stock aviation photos and freelance aviation photo gigs in the future.  I have looked at the inexpensive priced wordpress themes (not free ones which look amateur sometimes).  Wordpress seems to be a fairly simple content management system for a site.  Then I have been thnking of a domain name which I think it vitally important to branding/marketing myself.  I have a couple ideas but am trying to stay away from names that are specific to a certain state or region (in case I move) and also words which draw attention to only photography (as I'd like to put some other related content on it) and aviation words/terms which the general public wouldn't understand or have double meanings outside of aviation.  I have spent some sleepless nights with random words tossing around my head trying to come up with the best name for my purpose!

As far as conent....besides a blog post which is my own personal opinion I'm thinking of writing short news items related to aviation industry news in order to give my site more relevance.  But does it matter if news is re-written from another published source?  I have very little connection to generate my own news leads or time to go after and track down my own stories.   I have seen other blog sites do this.

Payout for ads has remained pretty constant over the 15 years I have been publishing on the web, despite all the changes.

Go get a free blog from blogger.com and post a few times. Add search terms (labels) and blogger.com will create a "site" that allows navigation throughout the site based on recent blog postings, labels, and special links that you choose. It's not the perfect structure but it gives the basic idea. I'd prefer more topic links that I can feature like on http://www.clipartguide.com as well as similar images.

You will also need to market the site but these days you can do that by using social networking and good content. If you have good content people will "like" your site and spread the word without you lifting a finger, I am still behind on this but am starting to see how well it works.

Having a specific domain name can be a big plus. Something like "AutomotiveStockPhotos.com" will help you get better listings than "JoeSchmoePhotography.com", assuming you are a specialist in automotive stock photos.

Ultimately, "content is king". That is an old saying that has been around since the dawn of the Internet and it, along with diligence, is a sure path to success. In other words, take one leg and put it forward, then take the next leg and put it in front of the other and pay attention to where you step. You may not succeed to your wildest imagination but you will not fail.
