[artshow_photo] Re: When does a photo stop being a photo?

 

I use Photoshop to combine several of my original photos to create my
art. I call it digital photomontage. If there is a digital art
category, I apply under that because my work is obviously not
"straight" photographs. If there is no digital art category I apply
under Photography because my work is created with my photographs. I
was very happy when some shows started with a digital art category.
My opinion is that both categories should be offered. Both film and
digital photographs should be under Photography. Digital art should
encompass work that is clearly not a "straight" photograph; where
several photos have been combined or images created with digital
painting programs.
