I've had some random black dots, spray, and wheel marks show up on my
7600 prints from time to time. I restuff my own waste cartridges, and
have found that if I clean them, sometimes there is ink on the top grid
where the ink drips into it, that removes them. The material must not be
absorbing quickly enough, or is over saturated on top after a while, and
must splash onto the head. I usually then replace the top layer of
material in the cartridge.
I was also getting some over spray issues a few years ago, and switched
from matte paper to canvas for a job and when it fed through, I got a
huge black streak on the front edge. Apparently I had a lot of ink and
paper dust buildup on the bottom of the head, deflecting the inks spray
causing the over spray. It ran fine after that.
Some of the Epson yahoo groups have instructions for manually cleaning
the spray head.
I keep an old G4 titanium powerbook for printing for my 7600 and 9600,
though I just bought a used G5 tower to replace it, that is running
Tiger. The printing went wrong for me at a Leopard upgrade on my MacBook
and never worked with my 27" iMac with Snow Leopard. . .
