Re: [artshow_photo] Re: Pricing - Art Show vs Website

Not sure what he really meant by gallery prices. But if he is really showing and selling in art galleries and they learn that he is undercutting the gallery prices, they will drop him immediately and other galleries will not want to show his work.
Ethical artists do not undercut their galleries.
Some artists might offer a slightly lower "show price" rather than their own "online price" because they save the shipping costs, but they would explain it in that manner.

>Walking the Southlake, TX Art in the Square last weekend, I overheard a photographer talking to an attendee, and thought it was kind of a clever strategy! (whether it was meant to be one or not) The attendee was asking about purchasing an alternate size or if it would be possible to make a purchase from him at a later date, and he said something like:
>
>"Of course! Here is my web-address. Just go to my website to view all that I offer. Now, there will be the option to purchase directly from my website, but don't! Those are gallery prices, and I will give you my live-sale price. Just drop me an e-mail, and I'll order it for you like."

>To me, it seemed like a good way to give the client the sense that your work has a high value, and feel like they are getting a good price. I feel like he was saying, "You are special. You are a friend. Not only will I give you a discount, I will also do the work for you."
