But do you realize how the U.S unemployment rate (official) is calculated? The federal government calls 60,000 adults asking them: do they have a job? If not have they looked in the last X number of weeks?

So those that have been unemployed for a long time and have temporarily dropped out of the employment market as well as those working a part time job because a full time job in their industry cannot be had are not being counted in the 8 to 9% figure that comes out. And how many people are on or file for unemployment benefits are not figured into the published unemployment rate. So they tell everyone a lot of different numbers, many of which are not integrated together to give the REAL employment picture!

Did you notice that the April figures, over 200,000 net jobs were added yet the unemployment rate actually increased by 0.2%? Hmm, how can that be? It's because of the old, antiquated method the U.S. government uses for this Unemployment Rate! :)
