You might have to ask some photographers out of your area whether you can
assist. Or perhaps an older one in your area might need a hand. There are
a number of good on-line resources, from the Strobist to
kelbytraining.com. The important thing is to look at samples of work
from as many
photographers as you can, both online and in books, and then talk to the
ones whose work you like best. The really good ones will not be at all
threatened by you, and they will regularly turn down work, or be too
expensive for people.
