It's very possible. As BK suggested, make your password for your accounts
tougher to crack, as in putting in the non-alpha and non-numeric characters,
like !@#$, etc. You could ALSO insert something like © as well (alt+0169 on
the NUMERIC keypad). It will make password cracking your account very hard.
Don't forget, too, viruses are not the only way to hack accounts...you may
need to scan for malware as well. Give Malwarebytes a whirl, it's free...as
is Spybot Search & Destroy. Both high;y recommended programs. An online
scanner which is also good is http://housecall.trendmicro.com .
But as you are thinking, it could simply be a case where someone hacked
Hotmail's site, and came across your account, totally outside your system.
Anything is possible.
