RE: [artshow_photo] Re: Laser printer vs. inkjet printer

If you are doing lots of small photographic prints, its hard to complete
with the commercial printing houses and the big box stores - Costco,
BJ's and Sam's club. I use My Photopipe for nearly all of my printing.
They use ROES as an uploading interface -which allows for cropping on
the fly. They are fast, will backprint the prints with your copyright
and date, and offer a host of printing options. Their cheaper prints are
photographic (silver wet process) exposed through a laser printer - sort
of a hybrid, and they offer, gloss, pearl and matte finishes. They also
offer all sorts of larger prints giclee, canvas and other materials.

I just don't have the time and patience to deal with printing my own
work -

Inkjets are good quality, but to get decent results you really should
profile your display, paper and ink - otherwise you're going to waste a
lot of paper and ink trying to get the colors just right - if that
matters to you or your clients. Besides, most multifunction printers
usually offer only three colors and black - so image quality is not what
it could be - again, it all depends on what you are printing and who
your target audience is.
