RE: [artshow_photo] Weather - How bad does it have to be.

Lowe's is like Home Depot. And I think this was over in the painting area - it could be used as a light-weight drop cloth for painters. I think the box cost me something like $32 and I've had it for 2 years now. Still a lot of sheeting left :-) The box was about 30 inches long, 6 inches deep and tall, and had a serrated opening in the top of the box for the plastic to slide through, much like a box of Saran Wrap.
I actually used it to wrap my mesh walls, once everything was hung - I cut a long piece and just started at the top of one wall, and wound it through the space at the bottom of the wall and back up again, several times so that each wall was covered, yet still visible... and when I'd make a sale, I could safely put my hands through the space between two 'layers' of the wrap and slide my also-wrapped canvas off the wall and out.

Light and laughter,

Rod, one thought I might add - should you decide to go ahead and attend and set

up - go out today and buy a box of thin, plastic sheeting. I got one at Lowe's

- a box that contains hundreds of yards of what is, if I remember correctly, 50"

wide clear, lightweight plastic. I used it during one show that had rain - and

you could *see* my canvas wraps through it, but the rain couldn't touch them. I

wrapped each canvas after it was hung on the mesh walls. I wrapped from behind

each canvas piece, around the front, and back behind it again, and then for good

measure I taped the plastic at the top and bottom of each piece (taping the

plastic to itself, of course, not to the canvas wrap).

The good thing was that my work was safe, but still visible. And the folks that

made it there in the rain were *buying*. They came with intent. It was one of

my better show days, sales-wise. And the rain stopped mid-day and the sun came

out, and all was well.

Good luck w/ your shows...stay safe.

First - I'm always one of the last to tear down and I have never even considered

being a no show. However anybody that watches the weather (I went to school to

be a Meteorologist and own my own weather station www.colubuswiweather.com)

ANYWAY - you all know there is a pretty major system going through the center of

the country and it has been slowing down. SO - the weather forecast (which I

feel is pretty accurate on this one) says 25mph constant with .75 inches of

rain and a high of 48.

So - at game time Saturday morning about 6:00 when I hop in the car - just how

bad does it have to be to pull the plug and IF (stress IF) I do so - what is

the best procedure in doing this. I deal with in 80% canvas.
