Hi,
I don't comment much but read all posts. It would seem to me that Oil Painting
on a print would make each one an individual and therefore not a Gicleé in the
strict sense of the word as it being a print that is not tampered with. When I
do prints of my paintings I call them Gicleés. They are not painted upon.
And yes, I would put out a brochure like paper that would explain the process
and I would put one on the back of each painting/gicleé that would hopefully
stay with the painting for it's life. BTW: I cover the backs of my
framed paintings and photographs and put a see-through plastic blurb pocket on
the back of each work (a plastic pocket that would be used for keeping papers in
a binder, cut off the binder holes, and tape it to the back.) That includes a
sheet about me and my art, contact info PO Box and phone number. In the case of
a painting I might even include other items and an original photo from which the
painting derived.
