Many exhibitors get started with grid walls. If you look around, you can probably find used ones very cheap. There is also a version called the "double" grid wall. I have both, but strongly recommend the double grids as there are so many accessories that can be easily attached to them, that will not work on a standard grid wall (including hangers). There are adaptors made that will convert standard grids to double grids, but it's just more stuff you have to carry and deal with.
Grids were my first walls, and served me well. Mine are all chrome, now delegated to my studio. The standard size is 2' wide x 6' tall. Many exhibitors cover the walls with material.
Their biggest issue is the weight. And the double grids are even heavier. There's no such thing as a light weight steel rod. Be sure your transport vehicle has a strong enough suspension system, and be sure your arms and shoulders are up to the task.
I would consider grid walls THE "bronze" standard. Perhaps mesh walls as the "silver" standard.
Good luck
