Re: [artshow_photo] Digital projectors

 

Back when I was hoping that E-6 slides would survive a few more years
(anybody want a working slide mounter?) that was one of the issues I
raised with those hurtling into digital projection. I knew the
difference in quality wasn't going to slow it down. The bulb issue still
makes me nervous, I hate not having spares, but I don't recall anyone I
know having a bulb burn out in a digital projector after the very early
years.

If you have to present every day and there is no reasonable fallback if
the bulb burns out you're going to need to address this. But then, if
you're presenting every day you can probably afford a spare bulb and
you'll probably upgrade every year or two to a newer projector anyway.

For intermittent use, a used projector that has a working bulb in it
will probably last for quite a while and you can just go buy another
used projector if it every fails, probably for less than a replacement bulb.
