One thing that might help would be to put up a "how I did it" section on
your website. When it becomes obvious that a visitor is wants to talk for
an extended time about technique, and you have other customers, hand them
your card with your web address and say, "I have an extensive write-up on my
technique on my site. Why don't you give it a look and send me an email if
you have any questions?"
Another technique is to start asking questions about them. Find out why
they are interested... If they admit that they're thinking of doing art
fairs, politely encourage them, point them at this forum, and add something
like "a really important tip is that if you're going to make it, you need to
maximize the time you spend selling...."
