How big of a show is it. Are you expecting 1000 in attendance? 500, 40,000?

Subject: [artshow_photo] Newbie Wonders - How Much Inventory to Start out and
What Quality Mat Board?
OK, I will be selling in my first show in September, hopefully a couple more in
the fall - waiting for acceptance. I am wrestling with just how much inventory
to create at the "get go". I visited a show today and the photographers had
lots of matted prints in their bins - but these seem to be folks who have been
doing this for years.
I am thinking of 50 each at 16x20 and 12x16 and 25 at 18x24. Also, I am
waffling between using a Crescent mat board with plain foam core and a
Bainbridge Alpha Rag with acid free foam core - there is about a $250 start up
cost more to go with the museum quality. But, then again, I want to aim for the
fine art market more than the decorator. So, is it important to offer this? I
guess I am suffering from a bit of sticker shock at start up costs and am
wondering how you all feel about these two issues -
1. How much inventory in matted prints
2. Which mat board to use
I will also have many framed images and plan to use the Aaron Bros Signature
Black wooden frames that I already own. Perhaps also add in a few canvases.
I welcome all feedback!
Thanks!
