Alex - I consider myself a serious photographer, and I regularly donate items and images to groups I support. I think your comment regarding Mr. Cothran (who has regularly provided wonderful information and knowledge to this forum) is both snarky and uncalled for. You have no idea of his profit margins whatsoever, and to make him sound as if he's something less-than a serious photographer for suggesting that we use our talents philanthropically is just plain rude.
I have no problem with profit, and I hope I'm clearing my karmic dues. What goes around, comes around, and my business model adheres to that premise. You are surely free to follow your own business guidelines, but please - spare us the uninformed, "witty" one-liners.
