Re: [artshow_photo] Re: What are your bestselling subjects?

I was attending a commmunity festival a month ago and I ran into a great photographer who had a booth there.  I've been doing photography for quite some time and think that I've gained some proficiency at it.  Rarely am I moved to purchase another photographer's work, but this gentleman's photos were amazing.  He'd worked hard over the years perfecting his technique of rich tonal , ethereal quality.  I told him how much I admired his work and we struck up a 30 minute conversation.  The gentleman was just that, and shared his perspective, techniques, etc. with me, as he could tell I was also an advanced photographer.  I purchased 3 images from him, and they are hanging in my home.  He is now only one of two photographers who have work on the walls of my home (besides me).  He told me that he's been photographing and teaching for years, and invited me to view his website and perhaps sign up for one of his workshops, which I intend to do.

My point in all of this is that, IMHO, true masters are almost always  willing to share info with other professionals and do not feel threatened by it.  And that's part of the reason that we have groups such as this.  To share information and to help each other improve his or her own  craft .

Although I am new to this group, it IS a good source of information and I appreciate everyone's comments (well most everyone)

don't let a few bad apples ruin the harvest. Like in most groups, there is always one or two who like to start fights and berate others. I just try to filter out the noise. and move on.
