[artshow_photo] Re: Hello

Hi, Jake! I decided to get more serious about photography about 4 years ago when I retired. Then the economy tanked. I've been staying out of the art show circuits primarily because of the economy. I do a few local shows, but I'm waiting for the economy to improve, and meanwhile learning! I don't know what you have available to you where you live, but ways to learn and make contacts are local art leagues and local photography clubs. Art leagues often have shows, some juried. One of the art leagues I'm in has a gallery that you can get juried into so my work is there all the time. I've also joined a co-op gallery so I'm selling in two places locally.

I have learned an enormous amount from the people in these organizations, both photographers and painters.

I should also mention this is a very difficult way to make money and a very difficult time. Even our most well known local artists are struggling in this economy and are supplementing their businesses by teaching and other endeavors. Many galleries are closing due to bad sales, not only here but in major art venues like Santa Fe.

I am enjoying myself enormously though!

Good luck!
Judy
