Friend of mine has a Square at Ann Arbor this week, and has been unable to process a card with it at all. His old machine works fine. Ann Arbor is notorious for spotty AT&T service, and he receives phone calls ok, and can pass text messages, but the Square is not working. Period. He's in South U. Over on State St., I'm having no problems with my normal wireless cc machine.
To me, that's a show stopper. If it had a store and forward function as a backup, maybe it would rival the professional wireless machines. Sure, you pay more for the separate service, but not being able to process a card at a big show like Ann Arbor is unacceptable.
