What you are looking for is called a codec. You don't mention what brand of camera (Nikon, Canon, etc.) you have. That is important because the codec is different for each camera maker's RAW file.
If your camera is a Nikon and your computer operating system is 64bit you may have to download a third-party codec. When Win7 came out Nikon did not support it right away, and I haven't checked recently. I'm not familiar with Canon codecs.
