Re: [artshow_photo] Just getting started

Erica, welcome & good luck.  Mostly I do craft shows etc.  Not just photography shows.   I usually take alot, but never two of anything.  I do take orders.  Size depends - on the photo, the person wanting it and the economy.  Most popular being 81/2x11 matted to 11x14.  Sometimes framed ones outdo matted ones.  I also offer note cards and often they move best, probably due to cost.  Hang in there no matter what.  You love your work but you'll need for others to see it to love it - so exposure is important at first.  If you don't have any sales at first, it'll happen, just wait.      TrisheBear

Hi All,

I am just getting started with my photography business. I am in the process of setting up my website which I will definitely ask for critiques for when it is closer to being finished. My plan is to start doing art shows to try to get my work out in front of people. Having never done a show before, I am curious about a few things:

1. How many different pieces of work do you usually take to a show?
2. How many prints of each work do you usually have on hand at a show?
3. What are the most common sizes that sell?

I would appreciate any feedback you have.

Thanks,

Erica
