Re: [artshow_photo] Looking for padded frame bags.

Hi Oscar:

First let me disclose that I am the co-developer of GalleryPouch (Mark Rogers from FrameDestination.com is the other developer) and I receive a royalty on sales of the product.

You don't have to use boxes, but I would recommend some type of corrugated box when transporting frames in GalleryPouch bags. They are essentially the "first defense" against damage to frames, face-mounted plexi and other artwork. One of the main advantages is that they avoid the need for tape to secure the cushioning material, which is particularly an issue with canvas prints or any medium that can be damaged if tapes touches it.

I often put two framed pieces back to back in a GalleryPouch (keep in mind that frame hardware can damage the opposing frame, so a piece of cardboard between them can help. The important thing to realize is that an 18x24 frame should not be used with an 18x24 GalleryPouch. Frames have mouldings that extend the artwork size sometimes as much as 6 inches on each dimension (for example, a 16x20 frame could actually be 21x25 inches in size), and the depth also plays a role. If you'd like to find the right size GalleryPouch, you should measure your frame or multiple frames (Length x Width x Depth) and enter those numbers in our calculator to determine the correct size for your needs. Here is the link to the Calculator:

and you can see an overview video on the main page of the dedicated site for the product at:

All the best!

Andrew
